I live for the weekends and for when I am on annual leave, because this is when we get to go camping, walking and boating. My love for nature, wildlife, birds, beaches and the sea is immense and Mike, my partner and I, are the proud owners of a little Salcombe Flyer speed boat. However, with us both being in full time employment, we find that there isn’t as much time that we would like to persue our outdoor hobbies, but, when we do find the time, we know exactly how to do it and we do it well!
We have two Cocker Spaniels, Zak & Skye who are a little bit naughty and cheeky but we wouldn’t swap them for the world. The dogs are happy to join us on our adventures, and luckily they are both good at travelling and on the water.
So then, about my other hobbies (the ones that I do when I am unable to do all of the above) ………………… I could knit before I could walk !!!! Or so it seems that way, and I can honestly say that I can’t remember a time in my childhood when I wasn’t knitting, crocheting or being creative. Before I opened my first shop on Etsy, JillyMix, I was making things for myself and for close friends and family and found that I was receiving lovely compliments and people asking if I would make things for them to buy off me so they could give them to their freinds as gifts, and so it began…. I was already a keen eBayer and Mike and I often bought and sold things on for a profit, so in the evenings, once cosied down for the evening I would knit and crochet items that I intended to sell.
One day, after doing some research for the best places to sell, my now mountain of hats, scarves, snoods, afghans and hotties, I discovered Etsy. Then JillyMix was born. Over the years, I have been experimenting and finding out what my customers want so I very much concentrate on making the items that people are asking for now.
Since finding my success with JillyMix, I opened OurGrannysAttic to list my ever growing collection of beautiful vintage finds.
As well as working full time, all of my spare time is spent either being creative or searching the internet and antique shops buying vintage jewellery, trinkets and memorabilia.
My life is completely busy but the love of my hobbies keeps me going, and in the meantime, I just wait for the fine weather so Mike and I can go out and play. And why, if I am so busy, did I start this blog and website you may ask? The answer is clear… I just wanted to share my happiness with likeminded people :0) …… and I really hope you enjoy it!
Thank you so much for looking
